Building Back Better: The Future of Heat Infrastructure Projects as Part of the Green Recovery

24th June 2020 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

The world has changed significantly since the arrival of COVID-19, but as we begin to emerge from lockdown the challenge of decarbonising heat remains. As progressives push for a green recovery driven by the Green New Deal, we explore the new emerging landscape and the levers we now have to drive change in the carbon intensity of our heat.

This event will convene industry-leading business and the most progressive local governments to set out the challenges and opportunities for the delivery of heat networks in the post-COVID landscape. The webinar will be formed around two panel discussions.

It will cover

  • How local authorities are adapting and managing risk for projects, particularly in the Detailed Project Development (DPD) and commercialisation stages.
  • Quantifying and understanding new construction risks.
  • Designing projects with resilience during this time of external uncertainty.
  • Commercial and legal considerations in supporting the resilience and growth of the UK Heat Networks market.

Panellists include:

  • Nick Gosling, Group Sales and Strategy Director, Vital Energi
  • Mike Reynolds, Managing Director, Vattenfall Heat UK
  • Jeremy Bungey, Woodlea Consulting, former Managing Director, Metropolitan, and Director of Strategic Solutions, E.ON
  • Sandy Abrahams, Founding Partner, Lux Nova Partners
  • Michael King, Founding Director of Aberdeen Heat & Power, and Board Member of Energetik, building the Lea Valley Heat Network
  • Ken Hunnisett, Project Director at Triple Point Heat Networks Investment Management
  • Huw Blackwell, Principal Engineer, Anthesis, and Vice Chair of the CIBSE District Heating Group
